This presentation will address the development of biomaterials for restorative procedures and how it influences the treatment decision for simple and complex cases focusing on CAD/CAM Technology. The understanding of facially driven treatment planning and the development of new materials and technology has led us to explore novel treatment modalities.

Dr. José Manuel Navarro received a Certificate in Implant dentistry after completing a 3 year program at New York University College of Dentistry (Chairman Dennis Tarnow). Upon completion, he was selected to remain as a fellow in the department, role that he combined with part time teaching at the Department of Esthetic Dentistry (Director Stephen Chu). In following years, Dr. Navarro was awarded a Master of Science degree in Biomaterials from NYUCD for his research on high strength ceramics (Chairman Van Thompson). He has received awards for his research from different societies, including the Academy of Osseointegration (AO) best presentation award in 2007 and the European Academy of Esthetic Dentistry (EAED) Research Award in 2011. He has co-authored several peer- reviewed publications and book chapters, he is on the editorial board of the European Journal of Esthetic Dentistry (EJED) and is Co-Editor of the book “High Strength Ceramics”. Dr. Navarro was involved in the early implementation of Digital Smile Design in Europe and is a DSD Lecturer. He is the current chairman of the European Association for Osseointegration (EAO) Junior Committee, and practices periodontics, prosthodontics and implant dentistry at the Branemark Osseointegration Center in Spain and in Harley Street, London.
